Alcoholic lotion containing tonifying and refreshing essential oils of Menthol and Eucalyptus and the active ingredients Glycerin and Panthenol, with moisturising, emollient and and anti-inflammatory properties, with the aim of contributing to the restoration of the hydro-acid-lipidic film of the skin and soothing the itch and the burning feeling after the shaving.
The glycerin is widely present in nature, as it is a part of the triglycerides, substances that compound vegetal oils and animal fat.
The glycerin is strongly hygroscopic as a consequence of the attracting action of electrostatic nature exercised by its components, three hydroxyl groups, towards the water molecules. Thanks to this property, it develops a strong moisturising and emollient action on the epidermis.
The Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) is easily absorbed by the skin and transformed into pantothenic acid, a compound of the coenzyme A. It possesses an excellent ability to hold the humidity, which helps to keep the skin moisturised and elastic. This favours the epithelial regeneration and performs an unreddening and dermotrophic action. On clinical tests a better healing was observed on patients with ulcerous, purulent and itching inflammations of the skin. It is also used on burns, eczemas, abrasions and surgical wounds, in which it determines the formation of smooth and soft scarring tissue, opposing to the retraction, fissuring and cheloids formation.
Mentha Piperita leaf extract, the menthol is a cyclic monoterpene with antiseptic properties. On the skin it provides a tonifying and refreshing action when applied in little quantities. In fact, it is advised to use the substance with concentrations lower to 10%, in order to avoid the risk of contact dermatitis. It is well known that the refreshing effect of the menthol is due to its ability to excite the nerve endings sensitive to the cold that are present on the epidermis: this action provides a refreshing feeling, limited to its application.
● Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil
The eucalyptus is an evergreen tree native to Australia. Its leaves, with a bluish green colour, emit a balsamic scent due to the presence of the essential oil. The oil obtained from the leaves, with a 70% of eucalyptol, known mainly for its expectorant and balsamic properties, is also able to clash with uro-genital system infections, soothen the nervous system and keep away insects. Among its properties, it has the ability to tonify the tissues: in fact it stimulates the blood flow, provides elasticity to the skin and leaves a pleasant feeling of freshness. The essential oil of eucalyptus, apart from providing a characteristic long-lasting scent, can be used to hinder the formation of pimples, black points or acne, and also to neutralise bacteria and treat infections and soothe irritations caused by wounds and burns.
